I graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and have been working for nearly two years, with an IELTS score of 7.0. However, I am considering switching to a field related to economics and finance.
I graduated early with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Danang - University of Science and Technology. I studied a vast amount of knowledge over four years and then worked for nearly two years in a job that is repetitive, requiring six days of work a week, which is very exhausting. However, the salary is very low, about 12 million VND, whether I work for a Vietnamese or a foreign-invested (FDI) company.
Seeing my friends working in the economics field in dynamic office environments with appropriate salaries and benefits makes me feel disheartened. I feel that studying a technical field has put me at a disadvantage.
I am considering taking the entrance exam for an economics or finance-related field. I would appreciate any advice from those who have successfully switched fields. Should I continue working in mechanical engineering, or is there a real chance of improvement in my future?
