Hongfei Glass Company, located in Trang Bom District, was fined 1.1 billion VND by Dong Nai Province for discharging waste into the environment, with harmful levels exceeding allowed standards.
The administrative penalty decision for Hongfei Glass Co., Ltd., located in the Song May Industrial Park, was issued by the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province on October 13.
Hongfei Glass Co., Ltd. (Chinese-owned) was first granted its business certificate in 2021 and received its environmental permit a year later. Its operations include the production and processing of light bulbs with a capacity of 5,000 units per year and manufacturing household glass and tempered glass products with a total of around 5,000 tons per year.
Earlier, the company was found by the Song May Industrial Park to have discharged wastewater into the industrial park's drainage system. The wastewater contained environmental parameters that exceeded the technical standards for waste by at least five times.
In addition to the fine, Hongfei Glass Co., Ltd. was ordered by the authorities in Dong Nai to suspend operations causing pollution for three months to review and improve its wastewater treatment system. The company must resolve the environmental pollution issue by October 31.
