Like other Sperian safety glasses, the A900 glasses are also made of Polycarbonate. This is a thermoplastic polymer with the advantages of being easy to process, impact resistant and shatterproof.
Polycarbonate lenses have many superior properties to glass and CR-39 plastic lenses, especially the ability to resist impact, shatterproof and block UV rays. Polycarbonate lenses can block 100% of UV rays. Light weight is also an advantage of polycarbonate lenses compared to glass and CR-39 plastic.
However, it also has some disadvantages such as higher production costs than glass and CR-39 plastic lenses. It is easy to scratch (so it is often coated with an anti-scratch layer) and has worse optical performance than glass and CR-39 plastic.
According to EN 166 standard, the A900 lenses are class 1 optical glasses with high optical quality suitable for regular wear. Diopter measurement ± 0.06 does not cause eye pain.
